Today is World Mental Health Day, meaning that people will come together to emphasise the importance of our Mental Wellbeing, and how we can access the right help if we need it.
Charities on social media, such as MIND and Mental Health First Aid England, have posted an array of strategies on ways you can help your Mental Health – not just for today, but for whenever they are needed. There are also helplines for you to call, or text, on these social media platforms, so you have somebody to speak to.
As well as these Charities posting helpful techniques for you to try, it is also important to speak out to your friends and family, or someone you trust, so they can help you. It can be hard to let out these feelings, but knowing you have someone to talk to can positively impact how you feel. No matter what the situation is, your Mental Health is always valid.
If you are struggling with your own Mental Health, and you are unsure of what to do to help yourself, there are different websites you can visit that allow free one-to-one chats with people who can offer you advice and strategies to focus on. This is an alternative to calling, and texting on a mobile, and it can be completely anonymous – which is a better option for some people. This way you know that someone is there for you, but they don’t need to know your identity.
Even though today is World Mental Health Day, it is vital that we understand that Mental Health is always important. We should frequently check up on our loved ones and our friends, so they know they aren’t facing their feelings alone. Our feelings can lead us to dark places, which is why we need others to help pick us up and bring us back to a happier place. You are never alone; someone will always be there for you.
