Recently the government have announced new and stricter guidelines, which meant football fans would not be returning to football games any time soon.

The original date in which fans were meant to return was going to be October. However, we are midday through October and still fans are yet to return with it looking unlikely they will even return this year. The Premier league and Football league have come together and started a petition names “let fans in”. It has reached enough signatures to be considered by the government but it is unlikely to make a difference.

A few nights ago at a theatre in London, an almost full crowd attended. A small cramped theatre is allowed to have people in yet football stadiums, which are outdoor and more than capable of allowing social distancing cannot have fans, back in? It does not make sense, which is why so many football fans and clubs are so angry with the government.

Not only would it be a magnificent sight though to see football stadiums filing back up, many football clubs need it. For several Football league clubs, the money from the fans every week on ticket sales and half time beer was the money keeping them in a financially stable state. Today, six clubs from the championship have announced that they fear for the survival of their clubs. That is just the championship. There is also 48 teams in league one and two who will be on the exact same page as those six undisclosed Championship teams. Will the government listen to football fans or will it let the clubs rot into financial disarray?
