Liverpool football club is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with one of the wealthiest owners on the planet. However, the fans are begging to get frustrated…because nobody knows where the money is going.
Liverpool FC has been at the elite level for years, seeing some massive names coming into the club such as; Torres, Gerrard, Suarez, Van Dijk and many more. But In recent weeks Liverpool fans are starting to get curios and are wondering when the big names start are going to come back on their check book. The Merseyside outfit have won the Champions League and the Premier League in the past 18 months; rationally these successes come with a hefty amount of money, but the owners say different. When winning the champions league the club will earn approximately £19Million, on the other hand when winning the Premier League the club will earn £40Million.
This is where the fans start to ask questions, and wonder where all this money is going.
The owners, which are on every red’s lips, are FSG. FSG otherwise known as Fenway Sports Group own another gigantic sports organisation, The Boston Red Soxs. FSG purchased Liverpool Football Club in 2010 for £300Million and ever since then it has been a very slow, but successful process.
They set a “winning” mind-set when they came into the club and have committed to that since; this mind-set meant there was going to be a lot of change in the club, and slowly but surely this has rubbed off. However, along with this “mind-set” came a lot of money and transfers. Traditionally Liverpool have always been quality in the market making phenomenal amount of profit on players, they had this killer instinct but in recent windows, this has fizzled out. Do not get me wrong, the success on the pitch is showing, but when teams are around you are strengthening in depth it really does make you wonder, “Why are you not spending money?”
In the 2020 Summer Transfer Window FSG have been extremely stubborn, with no main signings. Multiple journalists over the past few months have said FSG have NO! Money and if they want to spend they have to sell. Liverpool are NOT in a bad situation, it just starts to become concerning when you hear nothing form the owners for months.
