In an exhilarating week of sports, fans were treated to unforgettable moments across a variety of competitions. As athletes pushed the boundaries of their limits, the sports world once again reminded us why it captivates millions around the globe. Here's a look at the biggest stories that defined the week.

With some games being postponed in league one and league two, it was all eyes on Rotherham United and Doncaster Rovers over the weekend.

The Millers were away at Peterborough, a mid-table team who were on good form from their two previous games. Peterborough took the lead in the 17th minute after a tap in from Posh defender James Dornelly. This was short-lived however, soon later Rotherham had equalised. Sam Nombe netted for the third game running, to bring the Millers back into it. At half-time Rotherham found themselves ahead by two goals. With midfielder Malik Wilks getting on the scoresheet for the second time this season. Former Posh player Clarke-Harris got the third. Rotherham looked to be comfortably ahead in going into the second half, but after only 5 minutes, would find themselves under pressure from the home side. Rafferty was on the wrong end of Sparkes corner and headed the ball into his own net. This was shortly followed by a Peterborough equaliser, after another Sparkes corner was converted by the Posh skipper Fernandez. The game ended 3-3.

Doncaster were at home on Saturday and faced a promising Crewe Alexandra. Rovers were mostly the better side in the first half, with only one real chance being created, after Billy Sharp found the back of the net. This however was denied by the offside flag. It wasn’t until the second half, when the visitors, stormed up field putting Crewe ahead. A change in formation was what the home side needed. Not long later, a counter from Luke Molyneux followed by an excellent display of composure from Kyle Hurst, made it all level at the final whistle.

For the others, it was international break time! Loved by some fans, hated by most. England started this camp with a game against Greece in the Nations League. It is without doubt that every game of football is important and has meaning, but this game meant a lot. The news broke last week, that Greece international and former Sheffield United star, George Baldock had passed away. At only 31 years old, George was known for his passion and love for the sport but also the amazing character he was of the pitch. Greece were not the favourites to win their game against England, but with pure emotion and commitment to Baldock’s legacy, the team managed to score a last-minute winner. The football world came together to celebrate this enormous victory. The game finished England 1, Greece 2.

The final game for England in this camp, was against Finland. Grealish opened the scoring in the 18th minute, making it his second goal in three games under Interim boss Lee Carsley. The next goal wasn’t until the 74thminute, when Trent Alexander-Arnold, scored a perfect free-kick past Finland keeper, Hradecky. The third goal for England came in the 84th minute via a tap in from midfielder Declan Rice. A clean sheet for keeper Henderson was not on the tables unfortunately. Finland managed to get one goal back. Sloppy defending from England, meant the game ended 1-3.

In Darts, surprise finalist Mike De Decker bear World Number one Luke Humphries in the World Grand Prix. The Belgian 28-year-old, made his maiden TV final, winning £120,00 in prize money, saying “It feels amazing- I’m over the moon”.

Ben Stokes returns to the England Cricket team after being out since August with a hamstring injury. It has been a hard journey back for the captain, but he is in the squad to face Pakistan in the Second test match. England managed to beat hosts Pakistan last week in Multan, making it a historic opening Test.

It has been a hard week for fans in the footballing world, our thoughts go out the family and friends of George Baldock, the Starman.

That’s it for this weekly wrap-up, see you all next time!
