UK Covid-19 Death Toll Reaches 100,000, What happens Now?

The UK Coronavirus threat is at an all-time high, and the UK has just passed 100,000 Covid-related deaths.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has offered his ‘Deepest condolences’ to everyone suffering from the grief of a loved on during the pandemic as we surpass what has been described as a ‘Grim Milestone’. While addressing the event he said that he took ‘Full responsibility for all the government actions’ through the pandemic. On the 11th November 2020, The death toll had reached 50,000, meaning it has only taken 76 days to double this figure. Professor Calum Semple, a member of Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies has warned us that there could be 50,000 more deaths within the next few weeks as the UK remains at this Peak state before we can begin to see the effects of the vaccine.

In response to these recent statistics, Home Secretary Priti Patel is expected to announce The opening of Covid19 relief hotels later today, after the coronavirus death toll in the UK reach 100,000. It may become mandatory for certain travellers to quarantine in these hotels after returning to the UK, as set up likes this helped Australian Government contain the virus using similar techniques.

Priti Patel will also be making a statement on boarder restrictions on the UK from 1:15PM, Following Health Secretary Matt Hancock who will be delivering an oral statement on coronavirus. Boris Johnson will also be answering questions from MP’s today.

The Office for National statistics has warned the public not to be reliant on losing taste and smell as an indicator of covid-19 as this is a ’much less common symptom’ than those you should be looking out for. The new variant of the virus will most likely to cause in particular a cough, alongside a sore throat, fatigue and muscle pain.
