1.Doctor Who
With 12 seasons and 165 episodes available to watch on BBC iPlayer, Doctor Who is one of the most entertaining shows to watch during this new wave of lockdowns. The show deals with so many different genres. If you're a fan of science fiction, Doctor Who is for you. If you're a fan of horror, Doctor Who is for you. If you're a fan of romance, Doctor Who is for you. If you're a fan of four people breaking into an alien bank to pull off a heist whilst looking dapper, Doctor Who is for you. The show has a multitude of jumping on points including Series 1, Series 2, Series 5, Series 10 and Series 11. The show has a vast range of talented actors and actresses whom you will instantly fall in love with. It is the perfect show to sit down and watch in the evening whilst you have a hot, steamy cuppa in your hands.
2.It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a vastly underrated comedy created in 2005. It has 14 seasons consisting of 154 episodes available to watch on Netflix. The show is guilty of producing some of the funniest moments of comedy, I have ever witnessed. The show is witty, dry and sometimes outright disgusting, but it will have your stomach aching from the laughter. Seeing Danny DeVito crawl out naked from inside a couch should be the catalyst for you jumping to find your TV remote to put it on. It is the perfect show to watch if you want to forget about the outside world during these terrible times. We could always do with extra laughter in the world now couldn't we?
3.Friday Night Dinner
Friday Night Dinner is one of the most relatable comedies out there. It is available to watch on Netflix and Channel 4. It is one of the most fun British comedies of our decade and features an charming cast of the Goodmans and their neighbour Jim. The show will go down as one of the greatest British comedies of all time and is instantly re-watchable, making it a must watch during these new lockdowns.
4.Sherlock
Sherlock is a show that makes you think. It makes you want to solve the puzzle as Sherlock works to solve it. You laugh with him, cry with him and investigate with him. You may even want to be Sherlock Holmes after watching it (I know I did). The show is now completely finished and if viewed as one giant story, it is a masterpiece. If you binge this during lockdown, you will have one of the best TV experiences of your life.
5.Merlin
The legend of King Arthur gets a twist in this BBC adaptation. Focusing on the humble Merlin, we follow a magician out of his depth in a kingdom filled with prejudice towards his kind. He battles monsters and thwarts evils all whilst being one of British TV's most charming protagonists. Merlin is the perfect show to watch during lockdown if you want to bang on something that's easy to follow and enjoyable to watch.
