In this list, I will run through various movies that came out in the 2010’s which, overall, were very disappointing for fans of the films, or the critics that judged the movies.
5. Avengers: Endgame (2019)

After the amazing box office smash, Avengers: Infinity War left on a bitter ending; fans were desperate for the next movie to come out to and conclude the MCU’s 22nd movie. However, the story line for me was too contradicting and very plot holey with retcons for the rest of the MCU, which left some of the fans questioning if the universe that was built up over 11 years was being pulled at by the seams. The product placement was very in your face, along with pop culture that would be irrelevant in the years to come, like Epic Games Fortnite that was paired with Marvel at the time of Endgames release along with the Dab; a “dance” move that became popular in 2016 and became something of a meme and lost its popularity due to an overabundance of its use. Some of the reviews reflect this from fans and critics alike, who think that the movie was “overhyped,” a quote by IMDB user JMichaletos, “overdone and bombastic” a quote from Kevin Maher from Times (UK).
4. Suicide Squad (2016)

For many DC fans, Suicide Squad was hyped up due to the trailer because it was a movie that could rival Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The trailer was action-packed, backed by Bohemian Rhapsody, and featured them being mischievous and performing action-packed scenes. However, when the movie was released in 2016, fans and critics were not happy and felt mislead as things that appeared in the trailer were not present. The fans of the character Joker were also misled as the Joker was barely in the movie, only showing up for about 10 minutes. In an interview with Jared Leto, who played the Joker, the interviewer asked, “if he was upset about the scenes being cut”, Leto responded “Were there any that didn’t get cut? I’m asking you, were there any that didn’t get cut? There were so many scenes that got cut from the movie, I couldn’t even start.”

3. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
This movie was the second movie to include the avengers and after the first movie from 2012 was a hit, many thought the same for the Age of Ultron. However, Joss Whedon’s writing was very flawed and sort of lacklustre for me, and I’m not alone on this thought. Many websites that host critics such as Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert and Metacritic all seem to think the movie was somewhat disappointing, or just OK. The website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 76% approval rating with an average score of 6.76/10 and on Metacritic, the film achieved an average score of 66 out of 100.
2. Pet Sematary 2019

Pet Sematary 2019 was met with just above average rating at 58% on rotten Tomatoes and seemed the same to me, as a fan of the original novel and the actor’s portrayal of the 1989 movie. Many critics agree with me saying that the movie does not really distinguish itself, and seems to be a comedy said by critic Brent McKnight and Zehra Phelan, the plot in my opinion just falls to comedy and when it is not funny, it is just boring.
1. Bohemian Rhapsody

This movie was one of the worst from last year’s movie roster, as it was an awful portrayal of the great Freddie Mercury and Queen as a whole. Not to forget the mess behind the scenes, Bryan Singer being replaced different director, after not showing up for 3 days of production, along with the sexual abuse allegations that came to him again. The movie itself can be described as a broad, frivolous, and uselessly formulaic biopic about an inimitable band of misfits, it does not help that Bryan Singer is getting increasingly more boring with his directing and the blandness of his films of recent. The only good thing this movie does is cast Raimi Malek as Freddie Mercury but with the script given to him, sounds very wince worthy and disingenuous. I was looking forward to this movie but I walked out the cinemas very disappointed. It is insulting to see the lengths to which this film tries to capture the melodrama of Queen’s music, and humiliating to see the lengths by which it fails.
