There are many Cricket grounds around the world, but here are my top 5!

1. Lords- It doesn’t get much better than the home of cricket. It opened in 1814 and has been the home of the mcc ever since. It is the home ground of the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Middlesex County Cricket Club and the European Cricket Club. In terms of play Lord's is famous for having a sloping outfield. The south-west side of the ground stands almost two and a half metres lower than the north-west side, causing considerable deviation to the ball when bowling. The capacity of the ground is around 30,000.

2. MCG- is a huge stadium located in Melbourne, Australia. It can seat over 100,000 and has held the boxing day test match for over 70 years. The ground has the record for the highest light towers. The MCG also holds a record for the highest attended baseball match in the 1956 Olympic Games.

3. Eden Gardens-  this cricket stadium is in Kolkata, India and is the home of the Kolkata knight riders ( one of the biggest IPL teams in the country) it seats 80,000. Only 1 cricketer has ever achieved a hat-trick at Eden Gardens. Over 30 cricketers have scored hat-tricks (taking three wickets in three consecutive balls) in ODIs around the world. However, in Eden Gardens, this has happened only once in 1991, by Indian all-rounder, Kapil Dev. Though Harbhajan Singh and Irrfan Pathan have made their Test Hat-tricks, no cricketer around the world has been able to accomplish this feat.

4. Edgbaston – located in Birmingham, has one of the best atmosphere in the world. During the 2019 ashes series it was frequently called “fortress Edgbaston” because of the atmosphere. It also host the English T20 blast finals. The ground currently has a capacity of 25,000 and is considered the second best ground and atmosphere respectively behind fellow English ground Lord’s.

5. SCG- the Sydney cricket ground has one of the oldest pavilions in the world however the stands across the stadium are extremely modern. It can hold just over 48,000 fans. It also is the home field for the Sydney sixers (the local BBL t20 team)
