Sheffield Wednesday’s up and down start to the season continues as they beat high flyers Bolton at Hillsborough.
But the performance was still slated by a lot of the fanbase despite the win against a good side, the first half was dominated by Bolton and they should of took the lead in the first few minutes as former owl Elias Kachunga dispossessed Lewis Gibson and squared the ball to Eoin Doyle with the goal gaping but the pass was just behind the striker and the owls escaped what should have been a certain goal, the change of formation to a 3-5-2 wasn’t working as planned as Bolton continued to dominate, but the trotters failed to create any real clear cut chances.
Wednesday legend Kieran Lee ran the midfield on his return to Hillsborough and got the send off he deserved two years ago at full time, the second half was much more even but Bolton still had most of the ball, however it was the owls that created the chance that counted, Jack Hunt latched onto a flick by Saido Berahino and put in a low cross which was turned in by Lee Gregory for his third goal of the season, Wednesday sat back after the goal which invited Bolton to attack but they held on to record a vital victory.
