Nelson Semedo has made the switch from Spanish giants Barcelona to Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of £29 million.
The Portuguese right back has penned a deal which will keep him at the Molineux until 2023 with an option in June to extend that to 2025. Semedo impressed Wolves last season in la liga and the Champions league.
He joins a team full of fellow countrymen, which should make him settle in rather quickly. He was unfortunate though as he fell victim of Barcelona’s complete revamp of the team and joins players like Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal in leaving Barcelona this transfer window.
He will be replacing the Irish right back, Dougherty who left for Tottenham just a few weeks ago. Wolves have started the season off strong with a 2-0 win against Sheffield United, and a 3-1 loss against title challengers Manchester City. They will be hoping that this new addition to the squad will boost them into a top six finish. Something they just missed out on last season.
