Sheffield Wednesday have sacked Garry Monk after only 58 games in charge.
The club released a statement in which Chairman Dejphon Chansiri said “I feel the time is right to make a change and I wish Garry and his team all the best for the future.” This news came after the clubs form began to slip again after losing four of their last six games. The club currently sits in 23rd after their points deduction was reduced to 6 points, which meant they got added 6 points. Monk only won 19 games out of 58 losing 25.
The club are in search of a new manager and hope to get one by the game against Preston on the 21st. A lot of names have been put into the mix such as managers like Paul cook who was sacked by Wigan at the end of last season, Former Stoke manager Tony Pulis who has never got a team he’s managed relegated is the favourite for the job. Sol Campbell is also in the running according to Sky Sports.
The fans on Facebook groups have had their say. Many of the fans do not want Pulis as they describe his style of play as “boring” and “dire to watch”. They also do not want Sol Campbell as he is deemed “unexperienced” and “hasn’t proven enough”. The Wednesday fans are a very tough group of fans to please, as I know from first hand as I am an Owl. A lot of the fan base is divided on most things so who knows if they will take to the next manager in charge.
