Coventry v Sheffield Wednesday match preview

Since the rather sudden sacking of manager Tony Pulis, Sheffield Wednesday seem to be on the rise under caretaker manager Neil Thompson. With the owls picking up six points from their last two league games against Middlebourgh and Derby County. However the owls have been out of league action since the first of January, due to an outbreak of Coronavirus within the squad. The owls comfortably beat Exeter City in the FA cup on January 9th, but were victim to a rather heavy but expected beating against Premier league opposition Everton in the fa cup fourth round.

Coventry, the owls opponents and hosts this evening are amongst mixed form, playing tonight on the back of a 3-0 thumping to league high flyers Reading. The Sky Blues will be without Sheffield born defender Kyle McFazean, after he received a red card last time out away at reading. The hosts are without a home win since the fifth of December, while the visitors are without a league away win since the Seventeenth of October, when the owl last visited St Andrews, to face Birmingham.

Barnsley v Cardiff City

Barnsley welcome Cardiff City to Oakwell tonight, after losing all of their last three league games, Barnsley will definitely see Cardiff as a winnable game, as the visitors have lost five on the bounce, coming into today's fixture. Barnsley will be hoping to get their form back on track tonight, hoping to add on to a fairly successful season so far. Considering the departure of their manager mid-way through the first half of the season, Barnsley sit 12th in the league before tonight's game, with the possibility of going 10th with a win this evening.

Cardiff on the other hand will be looking for a change in fortune tonight. Desperately looking for a turning point in their season. After a productive January transfer window so far Cardiff are looking to climb the table drastically throughout the second half of the season, starting with a win tonight. The visitors are searching for their first away win since a trip to Stoke at the beginning of December.

Middlesbrough v Rotherham United

Tonight Rotherham visit the Riverside Stadium looking for back to back away wins, following a tight 1-0 win away at Derby in their last league outing. Hoping for all three points as they try and escape the seemingly inevitable relegation battle they find themselves in. Hoping for back to back league wins for the first time this season.

They visit a Middlesbrough side who narrowly lost last time out 1-0 to Blackburn. Boro, who are hoping to avoid back to back league defeats, will likely be without key defensive figure Dael Fry, after he suffered a horrific facial injury, in the opening half of their last league outing. An injury that left manager Niel Warnock livid, a game he will certainly want to move on from and forget about.

Manchester United v Sheffield United

Sheffield United will travel to Old Trafford tonight, hoping to gain their second league victory of the season, and adding to their miserable points total of 5. The blades have had a rather horrific year, struggling to live up to the standards set last season. Battling to stay in the English top flight is becoming almost impossible, with relegation seemingly inevitable. However, a win tonight could turn the blades season around.

They face a Manchester United side that are definitely going into tonight's fixture looking for all three points. United have the opportunity to go top of the table tonight with a win. Although talisman Marcus Rashford was substituted during Manchester United's FA cup fixture with Liverpool after suffering a knee injury, he is likely to be apart of the squad for tonight's game.
