Actor Johnny Depp battles with his career on the line following the recent conflict with Ex-wife Amber Heard.

In 2018, The Sun newspaper published an article labelling Johnny Depp a ‘wife-beater’, resulting in Depp launching a high-profile liable case against them for defamation.
On the 2nd November, Depp lost the case against the Sun because The Sun’s lawyers had enough evidence to prove their report was ‘substantially true’.
Four days after losing this case, Depp reported in an Instagram post that he had been ‘asked to resign by Warner Bros’ from his role as the villain Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts. He said that he had ‘Respected and agreed to that request.'
Depp and Heard were married from 2015-2017, however during May 2016 heard filed for divorce against Depp alongside a temporary restraining order. Amber claimed that Depp was physically abusive towards her through their relationship as a result of Johnny’s struggles with alcohol and drugs at that time.
At the time of filing the divorce, Police had been called on allegations for domestic violence. Reports allege Depp, in a fit of rage, had thrown his phone at his wife, leaving her with a bruised face. However, police reports from the day of the incident confirmed ‘No crime had taken place’.
In response to this Depp claimed the actress was ‘attempting to secure a premature financial solution by alleging abuse’. Heard had also requested a monthly sum of $50,000 spousal support from Depp.
In December 2018, heard wrote that she ‘became a public figure representing domestic abuse’ for The Washington Post, where Depp then sued Heard $50 million on claims of defamation.
In this claim he said Amber ‘is not a victim of domestic abuse, she is a perpetrator’. Phone recordings released hear Heard admitting to hitting Depp and saying ‘I can’t promise you I won’t get physical again’.
The case is still ongoing with much more to it than on the surface. Warner Bros. have released a statement thanking Depp for his work in Fantastic Beasts and has said his role will be re-cast.
