Is the Premier League still the best league in the world?

The premier league has always been up there but is it the best anymore?

I don’t think that there is any question that the premier league is the biggest league in the world. It brings in a hell of a lot of money and is the most watched league in the world. But is it considered the best? In my personal opinion, it depends on how you judge it. Is the best league the one with the best teams? Because if that was the case the Bundesliga would be considered the best. Or is it the most competitive?

Apart from 2019, when English teams dominated Europe, there is no question that English teams have struggled in European competitions. The biggest club in England, Manchester United are just a shadow of their former selves now and Manchester city always seem to fall just short. So there is no question that the premier league doesn’t have the best individual teams. But if you consider the most competitive league to be the best in the world then it would definitely be the premier league.

Liverpool and Manchester city have begun to dominate at the top but this season Manchester united have shown to be title threats, so have Leicester and Everton. You can never be sure who will win the premier league because it is like no other league. The diverse weather that foreign players have to get used to, the jam packed fixtures around the Christmas period also separate the men from the boys. And the many cup competitions that go along with it making it the toughest and hardest to predict league in the world. And for me, making it the most entertaining and the best.
