Ever since Dean Smith was sacked following a 1-0 defeat to Southampton multiple names have been thrown into the hat to take over at Villa Park but probably the most interesting name is former Liverpool Captain and current Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.

He has history with the Chairman (Christian Purslow) who was the sporting director at Liverpool. Whilst he has been seen to be the successor at Anfield surely a move To Villa would be ideal for 41-year-old.

The international break is being used to find and bring in a new manager with the hope the

new boss will be in the dugout for their home game against Brighton on the 20th of November. Some other names being mentioned are Roberto Martinez the current Belgium manger.

Many people believe Villa is a good step for Gerrard to take. He’d take over a young talented squad with funds to improve where he sees fit. Villa is a team that is under performing and Gerrard could be the man to shoot them back up the table again.
