We all thought that the pandemic was over, we had full capacity crowds back after almost a year and a half of football behind closed doors but there is now genuine fears that those times could be coming back.

the new restrictions because of the omicron variant means that covid passports will be needed at games from now on, as cases are rising covid outbreaks are happening within camps all over the country, Manchester United had to cancel their game with Brentford and Tottenham have to wait to see if they advance to the knockout stages of the UEFA Conference League after they cancelled their last group game because of an outbreak, the game cannot be rescheduled so the outcome will go to a disciplinary panel, locally Sheffield United’s game with QPR was cancelled due to an outbreak in the QPR camp.

fans will be fearing the worst as more restrictions come in, the new rule that grounds with over 10,000 capacity require a covid passport to get into has caused teams lower down the leagues to cap their capacity at 9,999 to avoid having to apply these rules, the biggest worry about going back to behind closed doors is to how clubs deal with it financially, clubs like Derby might not be able to survive.
