Cineworld arrives in Barnsley - Just over a week to go until the worldwide name arrives in our heart of Yorkshire; but will it even open?
It’s looking like it is going to be open for a VIP showing before the actual launch to the public on the 23rd which is next Friday. The cinema is expected to open to the public on the following Monday (26th September). Shops inside such as Starbucks will be included in the opening for customers
The Cineworld brand is known around the world as one of the giants in the film industry. With approximately 30,000 employees and 9000 screens in 10 different countries, this is a business that seems to be thriving. Or is it?...
In recent times the business has hit an all-time low after the news that Cineworld had accumulated 4.8 billion dollars of debt. Having had an incredibly difficult time throughout the pandemic being mostly closed until May 2021 after a small reopening in between the first and second lockdowns.
The industry had taken a massive hit with the closures, meaning that the industry for all major cinemas were relying on reopening with the release of high in demand films that were hotly anticipated to sell out instantly as soon as tickets were released and bring in the revenue back to the cinemas by storm.
Showings such as the new Top Gun, Spiderman, James bond and many other big name films that were launched when the cinemas reopened regained some of the revenue lost within the pandemic significantly, but failed to blow up to the scale that the providers would’ve expected, which was a massive hit for the revenue of company and cinemas in general.
