Championship Roundup

Harrison Needham

It was another busy championship nights with plenty of goals and thrills.

Strong starters Luton faced a Birmingham team who were struggling to find any sort of form this season in the championship. Lukas Jutkiewicz opened the scoring for the away side before Matty Pearson got the equaliser for Luton in what turned out to be a one all draw at Kenilworth Road.

Next up was a battle between two struggling sides in QPR and Rotherham United. Both sides with only 3 wins going into this one and it was QPR who scored first after Ilais Chairs shot took two deflections to take it in. Rotherham equalised through Michael Smith in the 38th minute but two goals just before half time have QPR a 3-1 lead. Freddie Ladapo scored late on for Rotherham but it wasn’t enough as the game finished 3-2 to QPR.

Stoke faced a strong Norwich side at the bet365 Stadium with a win taking Norwich top. And they took full advantage of this storming into a three goal lead just before the 60th minute. Stoke scored twice late on through Tyrese Campbell and Nathen Collins but 10 men Norwich held on to go top of the championship.

Wycombe who had just started to pick up some points faced Huddersfield at Adams Park. After a pretty even but dull game neither side could get a winner as the game finished goalless. A poor result for both teams.

Barnsley faced Brentford at home. Barnsley had been in pretty good form and coming off the back of a two nil win against Nottingham Forest at the weekend but Brentford put in a dominant display to grab a 1-0 win despite two pretty strong penalty shouts.

Preston’s woes at home carried on as they lost 3-0 to Blackburn in a very comfortable night at Deepdale. Adam Armstrong scoring once again from the spot with the other goals from Ben Brereton and Thrhys Dolan ultimately giving Blackburn all three points.

Bournemouth faced an out of form and struggling Forest side and managed to get all three points following a Junior Stanislas double keeping all three points in the south taking them second in the table. Nottingham Forests miserable start continues as they sit in 20th spot in the championship.
