The mirror had previously claimed that Boris Johnson made a speech at a leaving do on the 13th of November when the country was in the second lockdown, stating that he allowed a festive party to proceed on the 18th of December when London was in the grips of the tier 3 restrictions.

The story claimed that Mr Johnson did not attend the event in December which was apparently held by members of his top team. A spokesperson for Mr Johnsons wife had stated that its “total nonsense” and that Mr Johnson “has followed coronavirus rules at all times”.

Labour had also made their statement saying how it was “one rule for them another rule for everyone else”. on the 16th of December 2020 London was placed into tier 3 and 2 days after is when the mirror alleges that Boris held his party. Saying that “40 or 50 people were crammed cheek by jowl”. There is not one but two alleged parties that were taking place there.

These allegations come after the PM had rejected the idea of scrapping Christmas parties due to the omicron variant Mr Johnson had rejected Mr Harris call to “not socialise when er don’t particularly need too”. By saying that he had put in place “balanced and proportionate measures”. He also stated in a downing street briefing that he does not want to ‘cancel such events”.
