Barnsley is no stranger to luxury shops surrounding the town with the likes of Frank Bird, River Island, JD and many more being stalemates in the town centre.

Now all of these brands respectively sell the “new era” of clothing which many will argue is “over expensive” and ultimately not worth the money people will splash out on these luxury brands. However, for the younger generation Brands such as Moncler, Stone Island and Cp company are some of the many brands kids aspire to be able to wear.

Fashion has always been a major talking point in the world and many will say the clothing industry is only going one way and that’s up. For many people wearing clothes, you feel comfortable in is a massive confidence boost and this applies to any type of clothes, whether that be a plain white top or even a flashy, eye-catching shirt with the brand slapped on the front of it.

Designer clothes are a teenagers dream in this day and age however there has been nothing less then controversy for a very long time now in the industry. The likes of Canada Goose have been publicly criticised for their supposed treatment of animals as it has been reported Canada Goose used real Coyote fur to trim their hoods of some of their more expensive range.

These kinds of coats range from a staggering 1,000 great British pounds to even 1.2 thousand pounds depending on the type of coat. These jaw dropping prices just show how crazy the market is for what many people would say “is just a coat”.

Canada Goose did release a statement last year confirming they was going “fur-free” after many anti-fur campaigners projected their opinions towards the designer brands way of making products, which was “applauded” by the protestors.

“Healthy” competition in any business is seen as a positive due to companies having to potentially up their standards to compete with the more well-known names in the retail industry. For Gavin Bird the owner of Frank Bird located in Barnsley town centre he believes the opening off flannels is an “amazing achievement” for Barnsley and that competition is a “good thing”.

The recently opened Glassworks has certainly been a hit so far with big retail companies such as Next, Sports direct and Tk Maxx thriving in the new shopping complex however Gavin has nothing but praise for the recently added shop.

With the shop only recently been opened Flannels worker Liv was very confident Flannels would be a hit for Barnsley and that it “speaks volumes of where the company is going”.

There certainly is a vibrant atmosphere around both Frank Bird and Flannels and it will be really interesting to see how big of a hit Flannels will be. There is many positives coming out of these high-end shops arrival however some people may possibly question the timing off this popular retailersunveiling with the costs of day to day living sky rocketing.

This winter is going to be a very tough time for most families around the world and drastic increase in prices for even the littlest things has caused a large outbreak of panic throughout the country.

With the likes of food going up, 99 percent of people will not be splashing 300,400,500 pounds on a piece of designer wear which certainly questions why is a shop of this “luxury” opening at such a concerning time. It is yet to be seen what kind of figures the new flannels will be making however it will certainly be intriguing to see in the coming months how successful the shop turns out to be.
