Going back into schools will be hard, that is a fact. Children going months with no motivation and nothing to do, snapping back into the state of learning with all new rules will be 100% difficult for every individual. However, how do they feel about the risks of covid-19?
There will no doubt be agreements and disagreements, but these are just some of the questions we may be facing in this new academic year.
Is a second wave showing? Should we be sending our children back into schools?
“I’m okay with being two meters apart from one another, but whilst working with someone, it’s not possible to stay that far away...”
Masks?
A student studding animal handling and land-based studies Mathew Hodgson states “I’m okay with being two meters apart from one another but in my situation, us talking and working with someone it’s not always possible to stay that far away. I expect masks to be used appropriately.” Whereas other may have been troubled with wearing masks. A key worker says “I’m struggling with this mask around my face, it makes me feel claustrophobic” some sources exclaim, it’s like having your head constantly under a blanket.
Social distancing measurements:
In places like factories and offices it may be easier to social distance, but places like school (especially with disabilities often shown) it is hard to do so effectively. A good example of this is an anonymous source stating “there is still great fear amongst the teaching staff that an outbreak in school is a great possibility but we’ve got to work closely with the guidelines to create a positive working environment for the children”
The new normal!
So how are we supposed to normalise this? A key work explains “I think some of the new normal will be permanent because things like shopping people are starting to feel you don’t want someone stood right next to you and for me I hated people right up my next to me, so I think some of it will stay”
So, what the next step?
The guideline has said that they are experimenting with social distancing, and in every place they can, there are one-way paths and line to state whey a 2m may be. We must wear masks on almost every transportation, and they’ve also places guidelines such as staggered dinners and leaving times.
In conclusion, there are many places for opinion in the way people are going around the covid-19 situation. Some are in support of this new normal, but others may be scared of the quick start back into society.
Is the risk worth it?
