In an attempt to bring a little bit of normalcy back to society, a businessman in York has broached the idea of a robot run restaurant.

To reduce the risk of Covid-19, robots rather than actual waiters would serve diners at the HaiZhong Lao Hot Pot & BBQ restaurant. This idea comes as England is plunged into a second lockdown, leaving people unsure whether or not they are going to be able to see their families at Christmas, let alone eat at restaurants.
Though this innovative idea would greatly reduce transmissions post lockdown, it also means that workers could be put out of jobs, as they will not be needed anymore. With businesses having to make many employees redundant and quickly losing money due to this second lockdown, it is becoming increasingly harder for employees to retain work. However, this is a good alternative to ensure employees are not put at risk whilst also allowing small businesses to continue making money when non-essential shops and restaurants are able to open again.
Though this is just an idea that is yet to come to fruition, it’s nice to know that individuals are constantly trying to provide alternatives to bring a sense of normalcy back into our lives whilst also looking out for those at risk. With the future of Covid still looking uncertain, a distraction is always welcoming to consider in a covid friendly world.
